What's the HEART of my story?

In Writer's Workshop, studnets have been learning that after you finish a draft, it helps to reread it, thinking, "What's the heart of my story?" They then learned to slow that part down by adding descriptive details and using their storytelling voices to add significance to this important moment. Check out our work in progress from a few of our amazing authors!

The first draft shows where they found the heart of their story by underlining it and marking it with a ❤️. The second picture shows how the student changed it to slow down that special part.

Another student's example.
